George Carlin Talks About "Stuff"

I thought of this particular stand-up routine last weekend when my Mom had me take my "stuff" from her and my Dad's house. It was stuff like elementary school work. You know, the special type of stories and art projects that we all have done. I had some stories and little books and papers about travelling to grandma's house and what the perfect family was to me. There were also some special commendation type papers. In my collection was an 8th grade Social Studies evaluation of my work and merit as a young person. Was I attentive and a person who had no problems listening and getting along with others? Happy to report that I was! there was also a little report card from Sister Rosalee. A very strict nun who was my third grade Catechism teacher. She said that I was a very happy girl! After I was done reading through everything and sharing a few things with my parents and kids, I tossed it all away, except for one play program from the summer theatre group I was in way back in 1980. The play was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and I was Mrs. TeeVee. I am going to look some of my castmates up on Facebook! The rest was just sentimental stuff that I really didn't know what else to do with. I told my parents that all of the school work that I had done was always for them and they were and always will be proud of me, so it was just time to let it go. We did get some laughs out of all of us kids' collections. And what a sweet and thoughtful Mom to have kept it all of these years!
