Plow RIght On Through

Sometimes, there's nothing quite as fun as venturing out in a blizzard. You may think that I have flipped out a little, and maybe I have, but when my daughter who has been working a lot and playing a lot, finally got some time to spend with me, I seemed to ignore the blizzard like conditions and decided to go for it. We went to one of our favorite places, Red Lobster where I celebrated more of my birthday. If you ever want some space and good service in a restaurant, go when it is blizzarding. made it very cozy. Once we left there, the snow had become such a white out that my daughter thought we were on the road in the parking lot of the mall, but we were really in overflow space. I'm glad to report that my good old reliable limo.(my '97 Ford Van) can make it thru at least 3 feet of snow! I think the birthday celebrating is finally over. So, now I can settle in and just enjoy being 48 for a while.

Have you heard of the virtual reality game called "Spent?" It is an online game that guides users thru homelessness and poverty. A successful young college graduate has actually lived the experience of losing a job and spiralling downward. She emphasizes how this situation can happen to anyone. To me, it teaches the old addage of "Life is what happens when you are busy making plans." People are learning awareness because real problems are causing suffering and people need help. This game would be an awareness builder for young people and older people alike. It makes sense to me that schools are teaching checkbook balancing and survival skills and now they have classes to build even more survival skills of what to do if you are facing poverty. I, for one knows it can happen to anyone.
