Summer Slumber Winter Blizzard Party

While at school today, I talked to my friend whose son is up in the land of the frozen ones. DULUTH! They have actually closed down UMD and St. Scholastica yesterday and today. I told her there were no "snow days" when I attended back in the early 80's, but I definately remember some cooped up because of the snow parties. That's where the title of this post comes from. I remember one blizzarding night complete with snow and blizzard like conditions hence the "winter" part of this title and also thunder and lightning within the same storm, hence the "summer" part of the occasion. Of course there weren't many vehicles going anywhere, so we took advantage of the Spirits store delivery. Green death for everyone! That was the nickname for Special Export beer. I think from the frozen land of Canada! It's hard to believe that the liquor stores would deliver, but heck we tried to be responsible partiers! I never knew anyone to abuse this service or get into trouble. The blizzard party was a very memorable party. It was my freshman year in the high rise dorm. A perfect view of Lake Superior from up on the hill and fifth floor. Once you witness Lake Superior blizzarding, it is a sight you will never forget. The news casts from Duluth are sure taking me back! And also making me a little chilly! I hope you are warm and safe wherever you may be.
