Halloween Should Just Be About Fun Damn It!

I feel bad for the kids who do not get to enjoy the Halloween Spirit. I know a couple of kids who are not allowed to participate in their school parties. And even at the sight of a pumpkin will call out "oh no! it's Halloween!" I think it's sad. For whatever reason, these kids have been told to actually fear Halloween. Perhaps it's that their parents are misinformed and maybe didn't grow up in the U.S? These parents teach the kids to fear evil spirits and haunting of souls etc. The little girl that I worked with yesterday is only in 1st grade and kept telling me that she does not like Halloween and seemed so confused as to why. Imagine how scary it must be for her. And awkward that most of her school is so excited about Halloween and she has been told to hate it and will be excluded from the party. Me and my family look back and reminisce about all of the tradition and fun we would have! My Mom just sent out a photo. of the whole group of us at an actual neighborhood Halloween party back in 1972. We bobbed for apples for Pete's sake. How scarey can that be? It's just so different these days! And it's too bad! It seems like all of the holidays have been blown up and over done. Remember Charlie Brown complaining about too much commercialism and this was way back in 1965 I think? What would good ole' Charlie think now? Hopefully he would be thinking of a great costume idea!

  1. That is too bad! However, some of the things that are put on television nowadays during Halloween are really, really scarey. So, parents need to be responsible for what their kids watch. I even get scared at some of the costumes I see. Just more of our over the top culture. Nothing is simple anymore. Halloween is getting to be crazey. We only had less than 20 kids knock on the door. They were dressed in very fancy costumes. I do love the candy! love, Mom
