I've always had a thing for collecting furniture. I can never seem to pass up a great deal from the Goodwill or a garage sale. This goes back to when me and my mom and sibs. discovered the occasional garage sale. My Mom may not remember this, but I remember being in an upstairs bedroom of a house and finding an old vanity that was missing the mirror. It was $5 and bless her, she bought it for me and somehow got home. Probably in the back of the station wagon. I loved it. Loved it even more for being $5! Since I've had kids, I always make it a priority to make sure they have everything they need. They both have a thing about their spaces/bedrooms. They like their rooms to feel open. Just yesterday, my son hauled out his chest of drawers which used to be his sister's and said it was going to the trash room. Uhh, I don't think so Mister! I had he and his friends break out the Endust and get to dusting it. I had them set it against the only open wall in the apartment and I slept on what to do with it. Since I'm the only one that has ever seemed to appreciate this piece, I decided to switch the dresser in my room for the one that was almost given away. Mom happened to drop in this morning and my nurse for the day helped too, so voila, done in a snap. I was going to put the dresser that was in my room down in the lobby with a free sign, but my new nighttime nurse asked about it and it turns out her 2 grandsons could really use one. Glad it is going to the right home. Does anyone else get attached to their furniture? Seems like it could be a strange type of phenomenon. :)
Furniture Barn happens to have been the place to go for furniture when I was young. I had a little shelving unit from there from way back in grammar shcool. I would arrange my little figurines and dust it constantly. I still do that today. Re-arrange all of my favorite things. Variety is the spice of life.
