It's A Mindset
We all woke up to yet even more snow. I was out a few times over the past weekend, but am going to hunker down and stay in today. The ONLY good part about getting more snow is the way the fresh stuff covers up the old, dirty, disgusting stuff. The snow banks are so high here, that when the doggie is visiting, he leaps up on the snow banks to do his bizness and some of my helpers can't get up there to reach it! The other day, my cute little, pregnant nurse actually fell into a snow bank. Never a dull minute. Well, today I'm sure that I'll have plenty of dull minutes. That's where the mind set comes in. I try to have a couple of small goals to make the time roll along. Lately, I've been digging and searching thru stuff to try and fnd my Great Grandma's old rosary. It has been driving me crazy. I finished a picture project last week and have a new photo of her on my kitchen wall. I sit and look at her and think of all the cute memories I have of her. We knew her as "Oma" which is the german word for Grandma. her eal name was Barbara. She was my Grandpa Bill's mumsie and lived in the mother-in-law apartment hooked on to the back of their home in So. St.Paul. When we went to visit, there was plenty to see in her tiny place. She had her own little kitchen which always had wishbones hanging around in it. She always had candies stashed around and in her fridge, chocolate wrapped in what looked like regular chocolate candy bars, but came to find, I was begging for EX LAX! Her little bathroom always smelled of mothballs and had lots of stuffed animals about. I remember music boxes, Doans Pills and always coffee or tea brewing. I feel very blessed to have these memories. So, that brings me back to one of the only keepsakes I have of her. Her rosary. Round, black beads and a plastic, white crucifix which had yellowed over the years. I'll have to pray to St.Christopher, like my mother always told us, "oh, St. Christopher come around, something's lost that can't be found." Hope it works.
