Origination of Mary Poppins Both Surprised Me and Swept Me Away!
Who would have thought that a movie I haven't seen in years, would get so much of my attention? I was around 10 I think when me and my Mom and sisters went to see the re-release of Disney's "Mary Poppins." Being so young, I didn't remember the references and story lines built around the working poor and middle to upper class. Jump ahead to yesterday. This new movie that I saw, "Saving Mr. Banks," is the story of just how the motion picture "Mary Poppins," came to be. Frankly, it's amazing that the movie ever made it to the silver screen. The author,
Ms. P.L. Travers was very stubborn, opinionated and had a very unique and interesting childhood. I could try to explain more, but this is the type of movie you have to see for yourself! A real surprise. I have a stick neck from looking straight up for the entire two hours. The theatre that I frequent only has one aisle for us wheelchair viewers, up close to the screen. The movie held my complete attention. I found myself wanting more. My mom did also. She has ordered the series of Mary Poppins books that she can download. We are also going to have a viewing party of Mary Poppins. Corny or cool? Both, I think.
