Trail Etiquette

I try to take my neighborhood wooded trail everyday. At least in the spring, summer and fall. I pass by a lot of people. Bikers, walkers, runners, roller-bladers. It doesn't matter what type of transport, people are so unpredictable. I have learned to conserve my energy and not feel like I have to be nice and friendly to everyone. If someone is reaching out to me, I will of course reach back. Well today, we had a lot of rain and it almost looked like the entire day was going to be a wash out. When I went out and hit the trail, everyone whom I came upon was friendly and happy. One nice woman was like, "look how far you've come, good for you!" I let the whole patronizing feeling just go. i will take all nice comments. This leads me to believe that the weather here in Minnesota is so crucial to people's moods etc. Not that I ever doubted this. It was just good to come upon happy people. And grasshoppers. A lot of busy, and seemingly happy grasshoppers. Ewe.
