I had been anticipating yesterday' s fun activities for a while and it did not dissapoint. Well, it was somewhat dissapointing when my niece's hockey team didn't advance to the next round, but they played hard and did their best and were able to have the experience of making it to the State level. Their school hadn't been to the Girls' Playoffs in eleven years. So, hats off to them. They should feel very proud of all of their hard work and determination. Juggling schoolwork, practices, crazy hours, lots of practice and all of the games that led them there. Such a committment and such an achievement for the players as well as their families. My sister and brother-in-law have been there for all of it. Ever supporting the entire team effort. Fundraising, organizing trips, keeping the team spirit going...always.
It was fun beingin downtown St. Paul. The weather was quite mild and no icey snowbanks to deal with or rutty, slippery curbs. I always love being out of the routine. Then some friends came over with dinner and wine and we laughed and talked...a lot...everyone catching up on each other. THe common thread in the discussion always seemed to go back to us becoming empty-nesters and how no matter where our kids are, we are alwaysthinking of them and somewhat worried about them for their safety. It never goes away.
We had a lot of fun though and I'm so thankful for them and their love and support of me and my family.
Birthday celebrating is finally over, it was "tons of fun."
