Memories Of A Teacher

I mentioned a little bit about one of my son's and my, favorite, local teachers yesterday and that led me to daydreaming about some of my old teachers. One, in particular my older brother happened to have had for German in 7th grade, and would always talk about her and how wonderful she was, that I decied to take German a couple of times too. My brother Fred, would come home with so many interesting things that she had taught them. There was the making of the Gingerbread House, the Viener Schnitzel, the marzipan. I still think of this teacher. Her name was Frau Meier...help me out Fred, Gertrude? To this day, I remember all of her stories of when she came to the U.S. from Germany. She marveled at the Christmas lights that everyone would decorate with for their houses. So, I think of her at Christmas. I also thought of last night when we made the veiner schnitzel for dinner. It's a pork chop that you dip in egg and then dip in crushed saltines and I add a little flour and your favorite seasoning.(Mrs Dash) Of course, I always have to have applesauce with this. Turns out delicious everytime. So, here's to another one of favorite teachers and all of the things that she taught my brother, who in turn taught us! She had such a good humor and sweet spirit about her. God bless her.
